Subject: Beyond Compliance: Building a Worker Wellness Program – Register Today

Dear Greater Boston Chapter Members,

The construction industry has made tremendous progress in preventing workplace injuries. Yet today, some of our greatest risks aren't always visible.

Mental health. Stress. Burnout. Fatigue. Suicide prevention. Psychological safety.

These challenges affect every company, every project, and every jobsite.

The Greater Boston Chapter of ASSP is proud to partner with the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) to bring you an important and timely technical meeting focused on one of the most critical issues facing our profession.

πŸ—οΈ Beyond Compliance

Building a Worker Wellness Program That Strengthens Safety Culture, Mental Health & Organizational Performance

We are honored to welcome Tim Irving, CSP, ARM, CHST, former Acting Director of OSHA's Directorate of Construction, as our moderator.

During his distinguished career, Tim led several of OSHA's most impactful national initiatives, including mental health in the workplace, suicide prevention in construction, OSHA's Trenching Safety Initiative, the National Stand-Down to Prevent Falls, and the transition to ANSI Type II safety helmets. Few leaders have done more to advance worker safety and well-being across the construction industry.

Tim will moderate an outstanding panel of industry leaders who are successfully building worker wellness programs within their organizations:

  • Michelle La Fleur

Chief People Officer

Shawmut Design & Construction

  • Reginald Shubert

Corporate Safety Director

Barr & Barr

  • Nick Fragola

Director of Safety

Colantonio, Inc.

  • Special Guest Panelist (To Be Announced)

Together, the panel will share practical, real-world experiences including:

  • Launching wellness initiatives using Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and existing insurance resources
  • Building executive support and meaningful workforce engagement
  • Leveraging unions, recovery councils, and peer-based support networks
  • Scaling wellness programs from early-stage initiatives to fully integrated organizational strategies
  • Overcoming challenges including cost, participation, and cultural adoption across diverse project teams

This is more than a discussion about compliance.

It's about creating workplaces where people feel supported, leaders know how to respond, and organizations understand that protecting workers means caring for the whole personβ€”not just preventing injuries.

Whether you are a safety professional, project manager, superintendent, HR leader, executive, or business owner, you'll leave with practical ideas and proven strategies that you can begin applying immediately within your organization.
