The Greater Boston ASSP Programs Committee is excited to announce a rare opportunity to tour the University of Massachusetts Lowell Research Nuclear Reactor, one of the most unique and technically advanced facilities in the region. This technical meeting and tour will provide valuable insights into nuclear safety, radiological security, and emergency preparedness.

Program Highlights
- Steven Snay, Director of Radiation Safety, UMass Lowell – A comprehensive look at reactor safety protocols, operational safeguards, and the fundamentals of radiation (interactions, types, and quantities). He will also discuss the many applications of nuclear reactors, from clean energy production to space radiation studies and cancer treatments.
- William “Rusty” Lorenzen, Radiation Safety Expert and former Radiation Safety Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital – Expert insights on emergency preparedness, response planning, and homeland security considerations of radiological hazards.
- A guided reactor facility tour, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes perspective.
Post-Meeting Social
After the tour, join us for networking at The Establishment (75 Princeton St, North Chelmsford, MA). Appetizers will be provided, with a cash bar available.

- Attendees will be eligible for 0.2 CEUs (pending approval).
